We provide outdoor and adventure-led activities, grounded in therapeutic principles, for children who are living with challenging and complex health conditions, impairments, or limitations.
We support children aged 8+ with mental health conditions, neurodevelopmental disorders, physical disabilities, life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses and life-changing conditions. Our charity makes a positive impact, transforming lives through nature connection and nature contact, where every child feels included.
Our activity programmes are fun to be part of, exciting and appropriately challenging, while always remaining safe and enjoyable.
We aim to make things as easy as possible and alleviate concerns and frustrations – helping children to discover and explore the outdoors and the therapeutic benefits it brings, with the right guidance and equipment to make it possible.
Additional support
Where required, to enable accessibility at our sessions we use a range of specialist equipment, including all-terrain and beach wheelchairs, adaptive surfboards and custom wetsuits to ensure we can offer bespoke support and ensure children feel empowered and their dignity is maintained.
Families
We understand it can be difficult when a member of the family is unable to join in and take part, where a child is unable to have the same experiences as their brothers and sisters or interact with mum and dad. Health conditions can make mobility difficult in the challenging terrain of a woodland walk, accessing a beach and spending time in the sea. A parent with a disability may find it impossible to cycle with their child or their condition could prevent them from spending time at forest activities, creating precious memories with their family.
Home life can be impacted further: even within family units, children can feel isolated or choose to shut themselves away, not communicating about how they feel, alone in their thoughts and emotional conflict. Therefore, where it is supportive to the wellbeing of our direct beneficiary, siblings may be able to join in our sessions, too. Mum and dad can watch and there may be an opportunity to support on a session and get involved through volunteering.

Referrals
We work with a range of Professional Referral Partners in the communities we serve. These include the NHS, Social Services, schools and colleges, other charities, community organisations and private healthcare businesses. However, parents, grandparents and legal guardians can make a private referral, too.
Initially, we provide a programme of 6 activities which, for children, is followed by our Adventure Academy. This project offers additional activities to support children during school holidays.
Our referral process ensures that participation in outdoor and adventure-based therapy is appropriate and likely to benefit each individual, with the aim of improving quality of life and supporting emotional and physical wellbeing.
