Rob Emery
Our Founder and Chief Executive, Rob Emery, is responsible for the day-to-day running of Adventure Therapy.
Rob has worked in the charity sector for over 18 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role at our organisation. He is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and a Certified Member of the Institute of Legacy Management.
Rob took his inspiration to found Adventure Therapy through professional and personal experience of the difference that taking part in outdoor and adventurous activities can make to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Through my own experiences of spending time outdoors in nature and adventure, I know the positive difference that it has to mental and physical wellbeing. I also know the profound effect that outdoor activities can have to families of children with life-limiting illnesses. Spending time in wild spaces and creating special memories with parents and siblings; memories that last a lifetime.
The benefits of our activity programmes should not be under-estimated. We help our beneficiaries to gain a new perspective, improve their self-esteem and forge friendships, while regulating their emotions through nature connection and nature contact.
Our charity provides an opportunity for people with complex needs to explore and discover. Non-judgmental spaces where children can thrive and young people and adults can feel safe and supported while enjoying and learning a new activity, grounded in therapeutic principles.
In addition to voluntary youth work and working as a professional fundraiser, Rob also brings over 20 years of experience as a Financial Advisor, which helps with planning a robust strategy for the charity and developing its financial strength and security for the years ahead.
Rob is a qualified Archery GB Instructor, INWA (International Nordic Walking Federation) Children and Young persons coach and holds a Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid and Emergency Paediatric First Aid.
He has a Certificate in understanding autism, and has completed the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) course and National Autistic Society Autism, Sport and Physical Activity course.
Personally, Rob enjoys mountain biking, ocean kayaking and hiking and the therapeutic benefits each brings, whether on the water or out on a trail.
