Not everyone wants to jump out of an aeroplane—but there are plenty of other ways your personal challenge can help raise funds.
Not sure how you can change lives through adventure? If you’d like to raise money to help children and adults take part in our activities, here are some individual ideas to inspire you:
Adventure challenge
At Adventure Therapy, we know the power of a challenge. Overcoming fears and pushing personal boundaries can be life-changing—and now it can help change lives too.
By taking on your own sponsored challenge, you’ll not only experience personal growth but also inspire others to support your efforts. Share your journey on social media and encourage friends, family, and colleagues to donate as you climb, swim, trek, or take the leap for Adventure Therapy.
Some ideas for adventure challenges include:
- Skydive
- Mountain or rock climbing
- Abseiling
- Long-distance hiking
- White water rafting or kayaking
- The Three Peaks Challenge
- Taking part in a Tough Mudder
Sporting events
If you’re already active, why not turn your next event into a fundraiser? Getting sponsored for something you already enjoy is a simple and effective way to raise vital funds.
- Run a marathon
- Take part in a triathlon
- Organise a sponsored swim
- Complete a sponsored walk
If taking part isn’t possible, you can still support by volunteering at events—collecting donations or simply raising awareness by wearing an Adventure Therapy t-shirt.

The photo above shows Adventure Therapy project Co-ordinator Amy Weekes pictured with Marj, one of Adventure Therapy’s dedicated volunteers who raised £435 through her Penguin Challenge of 10 cold water swims. A brrrrrrr-illiant example!
Personal challenges
Making a visible change to your appearance can be a powerful statement. Sponsored head shaves, beard shaves, or even bold hair colours can spark conversations and show your commitment to the cause.
Some people also choose longer-term challenges such as fitness goals or weight loss journeys. These efforts may start small but can have a big impact by inspiring others to give.
Services
Offering a service is a practical and inclusive way to raise money. People may not always be able to donate directly, but they’re often happy to pay for something useful.
Many of these ideas are also suitable for children (with adult supervision), making it a great way to involve the whole community:
- Car washing
- Grass cutting
- Helping with shopping
- Window cleaning
- Litter picking
- Dog walking
- Driving or delivery help
Organise
If you enjoy planning and bringing people together, consider organising a larger event—such as a fun day, social evening, or sporting challenge—with your workplace or local community.

These are just a few ways you can step outside your comfort zone while making a meaningful difference.
Let us help
Whatever you choose to do, let us know your plans in advance. We may be able to support you with equipment, advice, or publicity to help make your event a success.
While it may be your personal journey, involving friends, family, and colleagues makes it even more rewarding—and often more successful. The more people you involve, the greater the support, both emotionally and financially.
